More than 800 Michigan children are expected to be diagnosed with a critical illness this year. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. When a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, anxiety with excitement and sadness with optimism. Since 1984, Make-A-Wish Michigan has granted more than 9,500 wishes. The average value of a Michigan wish is $10,000, and while each child’s wish is truly unique, the majority of wishes fall into one of four categories: I wish to go, I wish to meet, I wish to have or I wish to be. 80 percent of each dollar spent benefits the Michigan wish-granting program.
