DETROIT (WXYZ) — Art in Motion is an art studio and gallery space on Detroit's westside. The owner, Kay Willingham, says she's been in business for nine years and in her current location, near Livernois and Pembroke for the last two years.

The business features several affordable, artistic outlets for people of all ages within the community. They have classes and opportunities for people to try pottery, sculpting, hand-building, mosaic work and painting. They also offer $10 ceramic crafts for kids.

Willingham says they have two resident boutiques inside of the art studio that sell specialty crafts and fair trade items from around the world. Both small businesses are Black woman owned.

This October, the art studio will offer a special for couples looking to try their hand at pottery. For $100, couples will get the chance to make something on the pottery wheel, champagne, flowers and cupcakes.

The art studio is open Wednesday- Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday-Tuesday by appointment.

They have several programs targeting the youth. To learn more, visit artinmotiondet.wordpress.com.
