DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit Pistons Head Coach Dwane Casey, Pistons Legend Earl Cureton and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson will engage with voters at a family-friendly, outdoor event at the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Practice Facility from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.
In celebration of National Vote Early Day, the socially-distanced event will rally residents to turn in and submit their absentee ballot at the secure ballot drop box outside of the facility and receive additional voter information. Attendees will enjoy cider and donuts courtesy of Franklin Cider Mill, free pumpkins, live entertainment and autograph signings with Dwane Casey, Earl Cureton and Secretary Benson. The first 150 attendees will receive an exclusive Detroit Party at the Mailbox Package, which includes a Detroit Pistons hat, Michigan-made food and drink items, voter information card and more.
The Pistons organization has partnered with More than a Vote and Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote initiative on the event. When We All Vote will provide PPE to attendees and Lyft is providing a free transportation code for Michigan voters (Code: DETVOTE). More than a Vote will also provide food on-site. Meanwhile, a voter mobilization bus will be running throughout the neighborhoods surrounding the practice facility and will shuttle community partners to the event. Attendees and staff on the ground will be required to follow all CDC Covid-19 and social distancing protocols.
