PONTIAC, MICH (WXYZ) — Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center is among the shelters participating in BISSELL Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters event on Saturday, May 4. Families or individuals who want to give a furry friend a forever home will pay only $25 to adopt a pet because BISSELL Pet Foundation is sponsoring the remaining cost.

Saturday's event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the shelter, which is located at 1200 North Telegraph, Building 42 East in Pontiac. Pre-registration is recommended, but not required. Go to https://www.oakgov.com/petadoption/Pages/default.aspx, click on the "Pet Adoption Center" tab and select the "Adoptions" link. From there, download and fill out the pet adoption application. Email the application to petadoption@oakgov.com or fax it to 248-858-7449. The deadline for applications for the BISSELL Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters event is Friday, May 3 at 5:00 p.m.

"Pre-registration streamlines the adoption process and gets you and your new, furry family member home more quickly," said Joanie Toole, chief of the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center. "All pets adopted from the Oakland County Animal Shelter and Pet Adoption Center are fully vetted, up-to-date on their vaccinations, microchipped and spayed or neutered."
