BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI (WXYZ) — Franklin Cider Mill shares tips for freezing cider and doughnuts.
Freezing a Gallon (Half Gallon)
Remove 1 cup of cider (1/2 cup for 1/2 gallon) Recap the jug and place upright in the freezer.
Defrost by placing the cider jug into the refrigerator for 2 days or on the kitchen counter for one day until defrosted. Once defrosted, lightly shake the jug to mix the cider. Defrosted cider has a refrigerator shelf of 5 - 7 days, same as fresh cider.
Freezing Donuts
For warm and crispy donuts use 4 zip quart size plastic bags, split the dozen donuts into 3s and place 3 donuts in each of the plastic bags. Place quart size bags with donuts into the freezer. To defrost the donuts, preheat an oven or a toaster oven to 350 degrees. Once preheated, place donuts on a sheet pan and put into the oven or toaster oven for 7 - 10 minutes.
