ROYAL OAK, MICH (WXYZ) — The largest and oldest annual studio glass exhibition in the world takes place right in Royal Oak, Michigan at the renowned Habatat Galleries.
The 47th Annual International Glass Invitational Awards Exhibition presents over 300 works of contemporary glass art by more than 100 artists from 30 different countries. The annual exhibition kicks off with a grand opening that is free and open to the public on Saturday, May 4 at 8 p.m. The exhibition continues through July 5, 2019.
Habatat Gallery is located at 4400 Fernlee in Royal Oak.
The annual glass event is the centerpiece of the world of contemporary glass art, attracting the finest artists in the medium as well as enthusiasts from around the world, including museum curators and collectors. Over 50 artists will be present at this year’s opening. Though collectors and artists fly in from across the world for this important art exhibit, many Michiganders are unaware of prestigious event.
