Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update Host Colin Jost to Headline Annual Comedy Benefit

In conjunction with National Bullying Prevention Month, Defeat the Label has announced a weekend of activities to bring anti-bullying awareness, education and prevention to the Metro Detroit community.

The weekend kicks off with the organization’s 3rd annual, Community Conversation on Bullying, an open forum style discussion, happening Friday, October 26th at Oakland Schools in Waterford, MI. (2111 Pontiac Lake Rd.) from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tickets are only $25.

This event will once again bring together the community to help facilitate conversation on bullying and what can be done proactively in their anti-bullying efforts. Keynote speaker’s Judge Vicky Valentine and Director of the Michigan Department of Civil Rights Dr. Agustin V. Arbulu 

Emcee Kevin Epling will join facilitators and representatives from a variety of fields, including Ignite Social Media, The Autism Alliance of Michigan, Michigan Department of Education, The Teacher of the Year Program, New Oakland Mental Health Services

The following evening on Saturday, October 27th, will be the organization’s annual ‘Bullying is No Joke’ event - an evening of comedy in support of anti-bullying, hosted by Saturday Night Live’s and recent Emmy’s Host Colin Jost, in conjunction with Funny or Die. This evening of laughter will kick-start at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7p.m. atthe Flagstar Strand Theatre for the Performing Arts. (12 N. Saginaw St.).
