DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy’s popular Soirée on the Greenway returns to the Dequindre Cut Freight Yard on Friday the 13th of September from 6 to 10 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to come masked and dressed to impress for the masquerade fundraiser. The seventh annual Soirée on the Greenway is presented for the second year by Citizens Bank.
Soirée features unique food, drink and interactive art. Local food trucks YumVillage, Tres Leches ‘N Snacks and TruckShucka will tempt attendees’ taste buds with delicious menus based on the fall season, and award-winning chocolatiers Bon Bon Bon will present a Build Your Own Bon activity. Atwater Brewery is providing a selection of beer and hard seltzer for event attendees.
Main Event tickets are available for $50 at https://detroitriverfront.org/soiree and will also be available the day of the event for $60 each. Tickets include a strolling dinner, refreshments, musical entertainment, interactive activities and more.
Suya Fried Chicken with Jollof Rice
Suya Chicken is Ground Peanut Powder, Cumin, Salt and Pepper roasted on chicken and fried in oil.
Jollof Base Ingredients:
1qt Garlic rough chop
1qt red onion diced
1.5 qt palm oil
4 oz salt
8 oz Vegetable Bullion
5 oz pepper
1 can tomato
5-7 bay leaves
Instructions:
Combine garlic, red onion and palm oil in pot. Cook 10 min, stirring so it does not stick to the pot. Combine the salt, bullion, and pepper. Add to mixture after ten min. Reduce
heat. Cook another 10 min, stirring often. Add tomato and bay leaves. Bring to a slow boil. Remove from Heat.
Jollof Rice Ingredients
3.5 qt rice
3.5 qt jollof base
3.5 qt water
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in rice cooker. Be sure to stir rice constantly through cooking.
