DETROIT (WXYZ) — Youmacon 2019–a Detroit-based four-day Japanese Anime and pop culture convention celebrating animation, video games, comics and art–is back Oct. 31- Nov. 3 at downtown’s TCF Center and GM Renaissance Center.
Festivities will take place 24-hours a day beginning at 5 p.m. on Thursday evening through 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Youmacon (named for the Japanese word youma, meaning demon or spirit) is an all-ages mix of interactive games and events, cosplay, celebrity guest panels, live musical performances, exhibitors, artists and more. Now in its 15thyear, highlights for Youmacon 2019 will include large video game and table-top gaming rooms, a Charity Masquerade Ball with all proceeds going towards the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, national bands and DJs and a massive 150,000 sq. foot dealer's room for shopping Anime, artwork, figures and other collectibles. Last year’s Youmacon drew more than 21,000 attendees from all around the world.
As part of this year’s larger-than-ever Youmacon, more than 30 Anime industry celebrities and special guests are expected, including actors, producers, musicians, artists, and more.
