“The Collab” announces its Doc Dennard Scholarship endowment.

Five (5) scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,000 to Detroit high school seniors (DPSCD, EAA, Charter, etc.).

‘The Collab’ is a community outreach and empowerment organization that aims to positively
impact the Metro Detroit community through scholarship, mentorship, fellowship, community
activism, as well as social outreach. As an organization, we strive to advance the community to
create a better tomorrow for future generations.

The Doc Dennard Scholarship was created to encourage and support Detroit high school
seniors as they enter the next phase of their education and represent for the City of Detroit.
The Collab “Video Scholarship” was renamed "The Doc Dennard Scholarship" in memory of our
friend and brother. Since it's conception in 2015, The Doc Dennard Scholarship has been
awarded to 5 Metro-Detroit high school students with each receiving $1,000.

All applications must be submitted by Friday May 18, 2018. Decisions will be released by May
31, 2018

Criteria for scholarship:
Video
Students are required to answer the question “How have you helped positively impact the
city of Detroit and what are your plans to continue impacting the city?”
● Videos must be uploaded to Youtube or Vimeo at the time of application
● Videos must be no longer than five (5) minutes in length
● Applicants are required to provide a link to their video along with the submission of other
application materials
● Speak clearly and loudly
● Be creative as possible
Requirements & Documents
● Applicant must be a graduating senior of a Metro-Detroit high school
● Applicant must be entering into their freshman year at an accredited 2-year, 4-year
college or university in the fall of 2018
● Applicant must have an overall grade point average of 2.5 or above
● Copies of high school transcript(s) are required along with the contact information for a
counselor and/or records department for transcript validation
● Two references with contact information (i.e., name, email, and phone number)
● Video link and application materials must be returned in full to

● Final candidates will be selected by a scholarship committee and notified by May 31,
2018
