DETROIT (WXYZ) — New surveillance video has been released showing the Monday morning smash and grab robbery at the BotaniQ marijuana dispensary in Corktown.
The break-in happened at 4:25 a.m. The video shows a truck pull into a grassy area across the street and then race backwards before slamming through the wall of the building. A group of men are then seen running through the hole and grabbing things from inside. The robbery took less than 3 minutes.
Police say six to eight suspects wearing black face masks rammed a grey Dodge Ram pickup truck into the rear of the building. They then ran out with several products.
BotaniQ is located at the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Pine Street, just north of the Fisher Service Drive.
The owner of the dispensary, former WJBK-TV anchor Anqunette Sarfoh, or "Q," told police that no safe was taken from the business during the robbery. What appears to be a Mac computer was also left on the counter.
Q was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2013 and started using cannabis as a treatment before opening the dispensary.
According to its website, the dispensary provides "cannabis wellness" products to medical users. It opened in November.
Detroit police are investigating. No one is in custody.
