The largest movie screen in Michigan has arrived in Novi.

Emagine Theatres gave WXYZ a tour before the grand opening next Friday.

"We're always trying to innovate. We're always trying to do something to make people compelled to leave their home," Emagine CEO Paul Glantz told WXYZ.

"What better than to see tentpole pictures on a gigantic screen?" he asked.

The result: a movie screen that measures 48x92 feet.

Emagine has spent $5 million renovating the Novi theater. Two theaters were combined into one major room, and the roof had to be raised in order to create the sight-line for the new screen.

"This is a lot of fun. I'm really getting a big kick out of watching this screen go up," Glantz said.

The new EMax screen's first movie will be Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and that's not by accident.

"That was a hard date for us," Glantz said.
