(WXYZ) — Gas prices in Michigan are up 1 cent compared to a week ago, AAA Michigan reports.
Drivers are now paying an average of $2.49 per gallon for regular unleaded. The price is 33 cents more than this time last year.
Motorists are paying an average of $37 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline.
“Gas prices in the coming weeks are expected to be cheaper, which – with the holidays upon us – is good news for motorists,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group. “While people in most states are paying more to fill-up year-over-year, there are some strong savings when comparing the 2018 to 2019 overall average. This year’s Michigan average is about 12 cents cheaper than last year.”
Metro Detroit's current average is $2.53 per gallon.
