(WXYZ) — Michigan State Police are investigating a deadly crash on eastbound I-94 near Vining Rd., which is between Merriman Rd. and I-275 near Detroit Metro Airport.
According to MSP, there was one car in the median and two others that may be involved on the eastbound shoulder.
MSP said that lane closures are possible in the area and they are asking drivers to use extra caution in the area.
State Police, citing investigation and witness accounts, that the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control and struck a pole in the center media. The vehicle sustained serious damage and the crash killed the driver.
The left lane of both westbound and eastbound I-94 is also closed at Vining as they continue to investigate.
