MACOMB CO., Mich. (WXYZ) — Heads up, I-696 in Macomb County will be closed from I-75 to I-94 this weekend for construction.
The closure will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 and last until Monday, Aug. 5. at 5 a.m.
According to MDOT, the closure is for sewer work, which requires large equipment across all lanes. The sewer pipes will be repaired to ensure drainage from the roadway.
There will be only one local lane open from I-75 to Mound Road. That lane will allow access to local businesses and residences only.
The detour will be from southbound I-75 to eastbound M-12 (Eight Mile Road) to I-94.
