FERNDALE, Mich. (WXYZ) — The City of Ferndale will double rates for metered parking throughout the city beginning April 1.
The hourly parking rate will increase from 50 cents to $1 per hour.
Additionally, enforcement hours will change to 11 a.m. through midnight Monday through Saturday. The previous enforcement hours were 10 a.m. through 9 p.m.
The changes were recommended and approved by the Ferndale City Council and the Downtown Development Authority in February.
New signs will be placed in all city lots by April 1 to reflect the changes.
Warning citations will be issued for the first week of the new enforcement hours as a courtesy, according to the city. After the first week, normal ticketing procedures will be in place.
