DETROIT (WXYZ) — Fort Street near downtown Detroit will be closing between Rosa Parks and Trumbull for a couple of months due to bridge work.
According to MDOT, the road will close at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8 to work on the Fort St. bridge just east of Rosa Parks. Work will include removing the existing bridge and replacing it with a box culvert, reconstructing the pavement and adding a new sidewalk.
MDOT said the new box culvert will serve as an underpass for a future shared use path being completed by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.
Northbound Fort St. will be detoured to southbound Rosa Parks, northbound Jefferson, and northbound Cabacier back to northbound M-85.
Southbound Fort St. will be detoured to northbound Trumbull Avenue, southbound Lafayette, and southbound Rosa Parks back to southbound M-85.
