DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Michigan Department of Transportation said prep work will begin Monday to replace the Mt. Elliot St. bridge over I-94.
According to MDOT, several roads will close at 7 a.m. Monday so crews can begin the work. Those include:
– Mt. Elliot St. bridge
– EB and WB I-94 exit ramps to Mt. Elliot
– EB I-94 entrance from Mt. Elliot
MDOT said traffic will be detoured to M-53 Van Dyke Ave. during the replacement project.
These closures are needed for utility relocation prior to bridge demolition this spring.
The project is part of the I-94 modernization project in Detroit that involves rebuilding seven miles of freeway and replacing 67 bridges.
