(WXYZ) — The Southfield Freeway ramp to eastbound I-96 is closed Tuesday morning due to an emergency road repair.
MDOT says it is working to fix a five-foot hole in the road.
MDOT says the hole formed because the ramps are old. The repairs being made Tuesday are what they call a Band-Aid – officials say the ramps need surgery.
The Southfield Freeway and I-96 is one of the many areas in need of major work, MDOT says, but the problem is that they don't have enough funding.
MDOT says the ramp will re-open after 9 a.m.
