Firefighters were called to the Leland building at 400 Bagley Street around 2 a.m. Thursday.

We're told the fire started in a unit on the tenth floor. The ninth, tenth and eleventh floors of the building were evacuated.

The fire department believes the man was smoking in bed and the mattress caught on fire.
