Man shows up at Detroit gas station with gunshot to face, survives

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A man with a gunshot wound to the face is recovering after getting help from a gas station clerk shortly before 2 a.m. on Detroit’s west side.

Police tell 7 Action News the man was shot near Lauder and Grove Street several blocks away from the location he got aid.

The man, who has not been identified publicly by police, showed up at a BP gas station at the corner of West McNichols and Greenfield just after 1:45 a.m. According to the clerk, he had a gunshot would to the face — that clerk gave him paper towel to pad the wound while he waited for an ambulance to get him to the hospital.

The shooting victim was rushed to the hospital, but was in stable condition at last check.
