DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are investigating what led to a 61-year-old woman shooting a man on the west side.
According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that the woman heard a noise and went outside to investigate. While she was outside, it’s believed that she got into a struggle with the 49-year-old man she ultimately shot.
The shooting took place shortly after 2 a.m. in the 14000 block of Coyle Street in the Grandmont Rosedale area.
Police tell 7 Action News that he was transported to the hospital by medics and is in serious condition.
A description of what type of altercation they were in is not available, but police say things turned physical before she drew the gun and fired, according to the preliminary investigation.
