Tuesday is National Candy Corn Day: Take our quiz

There are conflicting beliefs about who really created the popular confection candy corn.

History.com says it seems to have been created in the 1880s when candy companies were " mixing up slurries of mellowcreme and molding the confection into the shape of pumpkins, chestnuts, turnips and other agricultural products."

Agriculture-themed treats of all sorts were popular as farmers made up half of America's workforce.

The National Confectioners Association attributes the candy corn to an employee of Wunderle Candy Company in Philadelphia. It is believed Wunderle was the first company to sell them.

But History.com says the Goelitz Candy Company — now the Jelly Belly Candy Company — really popularized the candy in 1898 when it marketed the candy as "Chicken Feed." (Find out why in our quiz!)

Oct. 31, 2018 is National Candy Corn Day. Take this quiz to see how much you know about the confection.
