Trenton UAW workers reject Fiat Chrysler deal

Posted

UAW workers at Trenton's local 372 have voted down the new contract with Fiat Chrysler.

Eighty percent of the production workers and 71 percent of the skilled trade workers voted against the contract.

Trenton joins UAW locals in Kokomo, Indiana, Sterling Heights and Centerline in voting down the deal.

The contract needs to be approved by 40,000 workers in 37 UAW locals in order to be accepted. If that happens, all workers will received a $3,000 signing bonus. New hires will also be bumped up to $17 to $25 an hour.

Workers hired before 2007 would also receive two 3% raises and two lump sum bonuses.

More UAW locals are scheduled to vote on the contact next week.
