MACOMB, Mich. (WXYZ) — If you’re a bargain hunter, get ready to set your sights on some serious deals right now. Retailers are unloading certain inventory to clear shelves for new stock.
Grace Enea of Macomb is scoring all kinds of hot deals. She just purchased an off-the-shoulder sundress from Macy’s.
“It was $149, and then it was marked down again. [With] Macy’s free shipping, it came to my house for 40-dollars,” Enea said. “And no coupon. I didn’t have to use a coupon at all. It was just on sale!”
She also found a rare 10 percent discount on her favorite perfume by Lancome -- La Vie Est Belle.
“For me it was a good deal. And I was really happy about that,” she said holding up the perfume bottle proudly.
Another WXYZ viewer also scored a deal online.
“I got this cool new T-Shirt from Magnolia.com for 30 percent off,” explained Kimberly Fox of Ypsilanti, as she held the t-shirt up in front of her with a smile.
Check your email. Many retailers are sending emails about their end-of-the-season sales.
I received one from Ann Tayloradvertising an extra 70 to 75-percent off at checkout.
A floral off-the-shoulder halter top was originally $98 and was discounted to $79.99. But once I added the checkout deal, I was able to snag it for only 20 bucks!
“A lot of retailers are offering significant savings especially in August because they’re starting to think about their fall inventory and – believe it or not – holiday products,” said Sara Skirboll -- a retail expert with RetailMeNot.
Skirboll said some of the best deals in early August are on grills – which are going for about 25 percent off.
Skirboll said other bargain areas include:
- Food delivery – 41% off
- Active wear – 22% off
- Swimwear – 50% off
And she said when you tack on other shopping codes or cash back offers, you can save a ton more money.
“Look at places like Ann Taylor. The Gap I know is notorious for offering 40-50 percent off. Banana Republic– this is a great time. Again, these retailers need to start making room for their fall clothing – big jackets and coats,” explained Skirboll.
So she suggested shoppers start with the clearance section – whether shopping in-store or online.
Skirboll added that if you’re buying for kids, think about buying one size larger. That way your kids can wear some of these deeply discounted summer clothes next year.
Happy summer sales shopping!
