The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced a recall of certain P.F. Chang's frozen meals due to the possibility that metal fragments may be in their sauces.
This is an expansion of a recall that was issued earlier in July for the P.F. Chang's frozen meals made by ConAgra Foods. A statement on the website of P.F. Chang's restaurants says no food in their restaurants is part of the recall.
The USDA says small metal bits may be in the frozen food. These may be curly and shiny, they say. "The metal fragments may be embedded in the sauce contained within the frozen entrée products," the recall states.
Metal pieces may have made their way into the sauces through sugar that was used in them. The sugar was found to be contaminated with metal pieces.
"Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase," the USDA says.
More than 195,000 pounds of frozen beef and chicken meals are part of the recall. All of the recalled products are listed below. They also have “EST. 233” or “EST. P-115” inside the USDA mark of inspection on the package.
