DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 1-year-old is in critical condition after police responded to a suspected case of child abuse in Detroit.
Officers arrested the 20-year-old mother at a home in the 19300 block of Kentucky Street. Detroit police said they responded to the location for a medical emergency call but further investigation revealed what they believed to be a child abuse incident.
Right now, the child is still recovering at a local hospital.
“I heard the fire truck and I saw EMS, then I saw a lady run out,” a witness at the scene said.
Police took the mother into custody, but there are no charges as of yet.
