DETROIT (WXYZ) — A 13-year-old boy was shot in his left ankle while playing basketball on Detroit's west side Sunday evening.
The shooting took place outside a basketball court at a school near Puritan Avenue and Greenlawn Street at 6 p.m.
"I heard five to six shots. Peeled out the window and saw a little boy come down stumbling and pulling his bike," said witness Anthony Sparks.
The boy was taken to the hospital by his aunt, where he is in temporary serious condition.
Detroit Police say they found half a dozen shell casings at the scene.
"Put the guns down. It doesn't have to be a gun battle when you get in a dispute," said Detroit Police Captain John Serda.
There is no suspect description at this time.
