16-year-old shot while playing basketball in Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Police are investigating a non-fatal shooting in the area of Smart Street and McDonald in Detroit.

On Sept. 25 around 8:45 p.m., it was reported that a 16-year-old victim was playing basketball with a group when an unknown male suspect pulled up in a black Chrysler 300 and parked, police say.

The suspect then walked over to the group and fired multiple shots.

As a result, the 16-year-old victim was shot, according to police. The suspect ran off from the area, leaving the Chrysler 300 at the scene.

Police say the victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and listed in temporary serious condition.
