FERNDALE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Ferndale police are investigating a nonfatal shooting on West Bennett off of Woodward early Thursday morning.

A 19-year-old woman was shot multiple times while laying in her bed according to Ferndale police.

According to investigators, around 2:15 a.m., Ferndale Dispatch received several 911 calls reporting numerous shots had been fired on the block.

Action News spoke with several neighbors who said they too heard the shots, in what's normally a very quiet street.

At the scene officers found the 19-year-old woman, who lives in the home with her mother. She was transported to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where she is in stable condition, said Sgt. Baron Brown with Ferndale police.

Sgt. Brown said it's unclear if the shooter knows the victim.

“The suspect would have had to get out on foot," he said.

The window is located in a narrow alley between two homes.

Police have not yet identified a suspect, and there was no weapon recovered at the scene.

Neighbors who may have seen any suspicious activity or who have home camera systems are encouraged to review any footage that may have been captured from 2 a.m. to 2:15 a.m. and call the Ferndale Police Department at 248-541-3650.
