2 events to check out in metro Detroit this weekend

(WXYZ) — With mostly sunny weather expected this weekend, there are two events happening in metro Detroit you'll want to attend.

Rock 'n' Rides Royal Oak

Summer in Royal Oak will kick off with its first-ever Rock 'n' Rides starting Thursday, June 20 through Sunday, June 23 in downtown.

The event will benefit more than 20 local nonprofits and community organizations by helping the charitable groups raise funds for their causes.

Tickets are available here online for $5 each.

Festival entrance is free all day Thursday, June 20 and Friday, June 21 until 5 p.m. After that, the price is $5 and is good for the entire weekend.

Detroit River Days Food Truck & Music Festival

The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy announced details today regarding Detroit’s kickoff to summer, the 13th Annual Detroit River Days presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort on June 21-23, 2019.

This year’s Detroit River Days will be held at a new location, West Riverfront Park located at 1801 West Jefferson (between Rosa Parks Boulevard and 8th Street) in Detroit. West Riverfront Park is a 22-acre park along the Detroit Riverfront that currently hosts big summer concerts and events, including Mo POP Festival and Detroit Touch-A-Truck.

It is the future site of Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park, which will open in 2022. More information, including event and parking details can be found here.
