STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — One woman is dead and two others were injured in a house fire in Sterling Heights on Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out around 8:15 a.m. and firefighters got to the home four minutes later and four people were trapped inside. One of the people were able to get themselves out of the home.
According to the fire department, two people were trapped in the basement, and in an attempt to rescue them, firefighters encountered a flash-over where everything ignited at one time. The victims couldn't get out and the firefighters became disoriented, and a second fire crew had to rescue everyone from the basement.
All were taken to the hospital, and the two firefighters were treated and released, the two others are in critical condition.
We're told two of the three people are sisters, and one of the sisters died.
