DETROIT (WXYZ) — Michigan State Police say the 12-year-old girl who was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Belle Isle Monday has died. They also said a 14-year-old girl remains in the hospital and is being treated for her injuries.
According to Michigan State Police, the crash happened around 8:15 p.m. on Memorial Day. Police said the suspect drove off Riverbank Dr. and onto the beach, hitting the two girls.
The 12-year-old has been identified as Ghadir Saleh.
During the investigation, police said they identified a suspect and located him on Detroit's west side. He was a 23-year-old man from Ypsilanti.
Detectives are interviewing the suspect at this time, and the vehicle has been recovered.
