MANISTEE, Mich. — Northern Michigan law enforcement officials are investigating a shooting that hospitalized two people.
The Manistee Police Department says the first call came in just after 12:30 p.m. Friday about a shooting in the 200 block of 5th Street.
When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old Traverse City man who had been shot once in the stomach.
He was flown to the hospital in critical condition.
About an hour later, at 1:40 p.m., police got a call about a possible second shooting in the 900 block of Vine Street.
There, police found a 19-year-old Muskegon man with two gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Through their investigation, police determined that there was not a second shooting— they believe both victims stemmed from the original shooting on 5th Street.
Manistee City Police Chief Joshua Glass said Friday evening that there is no longer a threat to the community.
Police say they have everyone involved in the shooting in custody, adding that these people knew each other and this was not a random act of violence.
