HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Three people are dead after two boats crashed in Lake St. Clair in Macomb County on Wednesday evening.
According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to MacRay Harbor in Harrison Township on a report of a capsized boat.

One of the passengers on the boat, a 58-year-old from Chesterfield Township, was able to swim to shore and told deputies that the boat was involved in a crash around 8 p.m.
Boaters identified the woman who swam to shore as Dawn Grzadzinski.
Family tells 7 News Detroit that Dawn is in the hospital but is expected to recover.

Officials then started their search for the three remaining people believed to have been on board.
The sheriff’s office said the MCSO Underwater Search and Rescue Team recovered three people from the submerged boat around 5 a.m. The individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff's office later identified the deceased as 52-year-old Craig Miller of Macomb Township, 56-year-old Heidi Baldwin of St. Clair Shores and 64-year-old Gerald Grzadzinski of Chesterfield Township. The woman who swam to shore was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

"You hate to see it. We see this occasionally these night time runs and ya know and somebody is out at night and someone else is running pretty hard," Owner of MacRay Harbor, Kerry Reedy said.
Reedy said hearts are heavy at his marina following the tragedy.
Officials said they were in a 1981 23-foot Formula Thunderbird. The other boat involved in the crash was a 1991 28-foot Sea Ray Sundancer, and there were three adults and a child on board, according to the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said the operator of the Sea Ray has been identified as a 40-year-old man from Roseville, and he is cooperating with investigators.
The investigation is ongoing.
