FLINT (WJRT) — A 3-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself at a Flint residence on Sunday, according to a report by WJRT.
The child was taken by private vehicle to Hurley Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound, according to the Flint Police Department. He later was pronounced dead.
Investigators say the shooting happened in the 2200 block of Cadillac Street, where the boy lives with his family. They did not say what time or how the shooting happened.
Police say they are not searching for any suspects and no charges had been filed by Monday evening. Flint police continued investigating the incident.
Flint Mayor Sheldon Neeley issued the following statement about the incident on Monday:
"This is a tragedy and a loss no one should have to experience. I ask the community to join me and my family in lifting, with our combined prayers, all of those who are suffering from this tragic loss."
