313 Detroit Day: Celebrating the best of Detroit companies

DETROIT (WXYZ) — March 13 is "313 DETROIT DAY." 7 Action News is showing some of the best Detroit companies and even a few you may not know.

DETROIT VS EVERYBODY is a phrase that has become a way of life in the city of Detroit. Graphic Designer and Cass Tech grad Tommey Walker created the brand and opened his Eastern Market Store back in 2012. SInce then the company has continued to grow internationally with collaborations from Adidas to Faygo.

Ellis Island Tea is a home grown beverage company started in the trunk of owner. Naliah Ellis-Brown has now taken her grand father's recipe into Sams Clubs across the country. The company operates out of a state of the art production facility in Detroit across from the Russell Industrial Center.

Detroit is also known as the chip capitol of the world, and one company that has helped with that is Uncle Rays. Started in 1965 by Ray Jenkins and Robert Qualls. Uncle Rays is a true pillar of the community giving back to nonprofits and charities.

Cream Blends was founded by Detroit's own Yolanda Williams. The company was started in 2013 out of sheer curiosity of natural products and how they affect the skin. Now, Cream Blends is used all across the country with all natural ingredients in their body scrubs, butters and oils.

Faygo brings back childhood memories for so many. Founded back on Gratiot Avenue in 1907, it has quenched our thirst for over 100 years. Faygo's original flavors were fruit punch, grape and strawberry. Now the company has over 50 flavors and is available nationwide.
