DETROIT (WXYZ) — More than 500 students at Coleman A. Young Elementary in Detroit now have a new place to play.
A $40,000 playground was unveiled to the students Tuesday, and that wasn't their only surprise – the Detroit Lions' Darius Slay was there for the dedication.
The principal says the playground will make a big difference in the neighborhood.
"What we needed was a place for the kids to play," Principal Melissa Scott said. "It's here and we're happy."
The playground was paid for by Wicked Awesome Wishes, a nonprofit founded by Lady Jane's Haircuts for Men.
