During his speech to the US Conference of Mayors, President Barack Obama has announced $80 million in funding for the state of Michigan to help cities build water infrastructure.

According to Senator Debbie Stabenow's office, the state will decide how the funding will be dispersed. However, the senator's office says the money can be used to help with the situation in Flint.

In announcing the funding, President Obama said it would be available by the end of next week.

The president called and situation in Flint "inexcusable" and also said, "  Our children should not have to be worried about the water they’re drinking in American cities. That’s not something that we should accept."
