DETROIT (WXYZ) — Over the 4th of July holiday, nine separate shootings happened from Thursday night to Friday in the city, according to Detroit Police.
As a result of the violence, one person was killed, nine were hospitalized with one person listed in critical condition, police say.
Here are the details of each shooting from the Detroit Police Department:
11:30 p.m. July 4th – Non-fatal shooting on 16000 block Indiana
According to police, shots were heard in the area and police arrived on scene to a large party where shots were fired. Police say they found 20 casings, and shortly after, a female reported to the hospital she has been shot. The 26-year-old woman is in temporary-serious condition.
11:35 p.m. July 4th – Non-fatal shooting in the 7000 block of Heyden
According to police, the victim was at a firework's celebration when an argument broke out between the victim and the known suspect. The suspect told someone on the phone to bring a gun, and a black Chrysler 300 arrived shorlty after with two men inside. They passed a gun to the suspect, and then he shot the victim, police say. The suspect is a black male, 30 years old, 5-feet-6, 180 pounds with medium complexion and black hair.
12:00 a.m. July 5th – Fatal shooting on 8000 Clarendon
According to police, the victim and the suspect were arguing when the suspect produced a hand gun. They struggled for the gun and shots were fired. The 26-year-old man was privately conveyed to the hospital and died at the hospital. The suspect is a black male, 6-feet tall, stocky built with a tear tattoo under his eye.
12:00 a.m. July 5th – Double non-fatal shooting on Brush and Smith
Police say an officer was at the hospital on a fatal shooting when two shooting victims arrived. They spoke with the victims, and one said he was standing on Brush where he were struck by a stray bullet, and the second victim said he was in the park when 10-15 people started arguing and someone began shooting and he was struck by a bullet. The victims do not know each other.
12:30 a.m. July 5th – Non-fatal shooting on 18000 Shaftsbury
Police say the victim's sister was in a fight earlier int he day and the same people she had a fight with came back and shot him. He is in temp-serious condition, and the suspect is a black male in his 20s.
2:53 a.m. July 5th – Non-fatal shooting on 7 Mile and Conant
Police say the suspect approached the man and said "where's your man at,' then pulled out a gun and shot the victim. He is in stable condition and the suspect is still on the run.
Time unknown – Shooting on Wyoming and Fenkell
Police say the suspect was sitting in his vehicle when an unknown vehicle pulled up and fired several shots, striking him and the vehicle. He arrived at th ehospital and his condition is unknown.
