DETROIT (WXYZ) — Police say a man was driving drunk when he hit and killed a man crossing the street near Van Dyke and East Seven Mile Road Saturday evening.
The suspect, a 30-year-old man, was driving southbound on Van Dyke at East Seven Mile in his Chrysler Pacifica when he hit a 62-year-old man who had entered the roadway. After hitting the victim, the suspect then lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree.
First responders attempted to resuscitate the victim but he died at the scene.
The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated.
