TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 68-year-old man from Troy was arrested after police say he intentionally hit a protester with his car on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the victim had no injuries. The protest happened near Somerset Mall at Coolidge and Big Beaver.
"We appreciate the peaceful protest that has taken place in Troy tonight. We are inspired by so many young people speaking out against injustice. However, we encourage those loitering in the area to leave as the official event is now over," police said in a release.

Hundreds of people took to the streets to protest police brutality in Troy on Monday.
At one point, officers with the Troy and Birmingham police departments blocked off a roadway. Protesters then asked officers to take a knee with them, and those officers did just that.
To the sound of applause and cheers, the officers knelt for a few seconds. The protesters dispersed following that interaction.
