WATCH: Dozens in Westland symbolize final moments of George Floyd's life by lying down in protest

WESTLAND, Mich. (WXYZ) — People took to the streets throughout metro Detroit on Thursday to protest the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week.

There were protests in Howell, Detroit, Pontiac, Rochester and Westland.

On Thursday evening in Westland, those protesters laid down in the middle of the road outside of the police department.

It's a protest that has happened throughout the country, where people lie down on the ground for 8 minutes and 46 seconds to symbolize the last moments of Floyd's life.

Hundreds in Detroit marched on Thursday night, the seventh night of protests in the city.
