"You never think it's going to happen to you and when it does, it is terrifying," said one of the victim's in a recent string of home invasions in Ann Arbor.

Police say most of the crimes have taken place on the city's west side, and the intruder was able to get into the homes through unlocked doors.

The first reported home invasion took place April 5 on Patricia Avenue, not far from Maple, around 11:30 at night. The intruder ran off when the homeowner startled him.

The intruder struck again a few hours later on South Seventh Street near Liberty. That's where a woman told police that the stranger was wearing a mask and woke her up by shaking her. He then told her to bend over. Police say the woman fought back, biting her attacker and screaming. The intruder ran off when a relative came rushed into the room.

Then about an hour after the home invasion and attack on South Seventh, the intruder struck again, finding his way into a home near Newport Road and Miller Avenue. He fled when he was confronted.

Police are also trying to determine if a home invasion on South State Street near Washington Street is also connected. It happened around 5:00 a.m. on April 12. A woman told police she awoke to a man standing in her bedroom and that he took off when she saw him.

The latest home invasion took place Friday, April 13, around 4:20 in the morning on Signature Boulevard near Waymarket. We're told the homeowner yelled at the intruder and he ran off.

The suspect is described as a white man, 20 to 30 years old, standing 5' 6" to 5' 9" with a small build.
