School is back in session and some teachers go above and beyond to make the transition as smooth as possible. One Royal Oak teacher has a lot of experience and her students say she knows exactly what to do.
“I think she’s the best teacher ever! She’s fantastic!” 3rd grader Sylvia Bossenberder said.
There isn’t a student who has come through Oakridge Elementary that doesn’t know Mrs. Mary Kosnik.
“She’s more like family to a lot of the students she teaches, she just does a great job with being a part of the community,” fellow teacher Dave Stafford said.
Mrs. Kosnik says her classroom is her second home and her students are and always will be her kids.
“I always tell them once they leave my classroom they always have a piece of my heart,” she said.
She’s led the class for 28 years, pushing each student to their full potential.
“She’s just so involved and has a special relationship with every one of our students, I just think it’s awesome,” Natalie Forsyth said.
But it’s not just the students who look up to Mrs. Kosnik.
“She’s also such a tremendous resource for other teachers, she’s great with curriculum, knows reading and writing, she does a great job being a resource for teachers,” Stafford said.
With no plans of stopping and joy that shines throughout the classroom- 28 years is just the beginning for this All Star teacher.
“The kids of Oakridge fill me up, fill my heart right up,” Mary Kosnik said.
Congratulations Mrs. Kosnik! If there's someone going above and beyond in your school, we want to hear about it! Email annmarie.laflamme@wxyz.com.
