BACK TO SCHOOL: Many students across metro Detroit get ready for first day of class

As many students across metro Detroit attend their first day of school, we're reporting from some of the largest districts in the area.

WXYZ reporter Nima Shaffe spent the morning in the Utica Community Schools district to talk to officials about the upcoming school year.

Within the district, staff members at Plumbrook Elementary School in Sterling Heights devised a clever way to welcome students back for another year. Watch their fun video below:
