The Better Business Bureau is warning people about possible scams during election season.
The BBB says callers could be pretending to represent a cause and may even use real audio clips from candidates to get people to donate.
To avoid scams, the BBB says people should give directly to a campaign office or through candidates' official websites, and research fundraising organizations before donating.
Additionally, beware of prize offers – legitimate polling companies don't give rewards for participation, the BBB says, and never give out personal banking information or your social security number.
