Dan Gilbert can claim to another building dotting Detroit’s skyline.
The billionaire’s real estate firm Bedrock has purchased the Buhl Building at 535 Griswold Street for an undisclosed amount.
Bedrock purchased the 27-story building and adjacent parking garage in the city’s financial district. The parking lot has 625 spaces.
The 390,000 square foot building Buhl building was designed by Wirt. C Rowland in the Romanesque and Neo-Gothic style in 1925. The L-shaped lobby wraps around from Griswold to Congress and features vaulted ceilings, marble floors, wainscoting and 12 bronze elevator doors.
“We look forward to improving common areas, technology and implementing modern building infrastructure in the building and garage,” said Jim Ketai, Bedrock CEO in a statement.
