DETROIT (WXYZ) — Buddy's Pizza is trying out a new way for couples to celebrate Valentine's Day. The restaurant with the original Detroit-style pizza is hosting an "Eat Your Heart Out" pizza eating contest for couples.

The contest is at its new downtown Detroit location inside the Madison Building.

Buddy's will randomly select five teams fo two from the list of entries. The first couple to finish eating a 4-square pizza, completely hands free, will win. each person on the team will get free pizza for a year.

“While we’re a company that prides ourselves on tradition, we thought this would be a fun, non-traditional way to award pizza-loving fans who are willing to celebrate Valentine’s Day differently this year,” said Buddy’s Pizza CEO Burton Heiss.

Those who want to compete can register by clicking here. Teams who are randomly selected will be notified through email on Feb. 13 and must confirm their availability that day.
