A Detroit original will be opening a new restaurant the Detroit Zoo next year.
Buddy's Pizza will open the 4,434-square-foot restaurant in the spring, offering Detroit-style pizza to zoo visitors. It will seat 80 people inside and 75 outside, offering a picturesque view of the Rackham Fountain.
it will serve a variety of Buddy's pizza, as well as pizza by the slice, salads and a spcieal Detroit Zoo pizza with cheese, roasted tomatoes, fresh basil, pine nuts and tomato-basil sauce.
“The Detroit Zoo and Buddy’s Pizza are two southeast Michigan icons that have been serving families in the community for decades,” Ron Kagan, executive director and CEO for the Detroit Zoological Society said in a release. “We’re excited to add this exceptional product to our dining options.”
It will be located just west of the Ford Education Center and will be the restaurant's first location inside an attraction. It joins American Coney Island at the Detroit Popcorn Company as Detroit originals inside the zoo.
